KUALA LUMPUR: A literally upset Malaysian minister Zuraida Kamaruddin was “utterly appalled” by the racist comment made against national women’s singles shuttler S. Kisona on social media, describing it as a “dreadful remark”.

In her statement Zuraida Kamaruddin said that Malaysia as a whole has zero tolerance of any form of racism or discrimination and, thus, condemned the remarks, adding that she will always stand up for any woman irrespective of whether she is a Chinese, Indian, Malay, Murut, Iban, Bidayuh, Orang Ulu, Melanau Kadazan-Dusun, Bajau or others..

“Such a dreadful remark is uncalled for, and We Malaysians must condemn such a senseless remark” said the Conscientious Political leader

On another note, Zuraida pledged to uphold all initiatives that support progress and inclusivity with a goal of achieving 30% women participation in all sectors as part of nation-building. “Keluarga Malaysia efforts” said the visibly upset Malaysian Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin.

Hari Jumat memang sangat berkesan bagi umat Islam. Pada hari itu terdapat kejadian luar biasa sebagaimana yang telah disebutkan dalam hadis dari Abu Hurairah, Nabi shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam bersabda yang artinya,null

“Hari yang baik saat terbitnya matahari adalah hari Jumat. Hari tersebut adalah hari diciptakannya Adam, hari ketika Adam dimasukkan ke dalam surga dan hari ketika Adam dikeluarkan dari surga. Hari kiamat tidaklah terjadi kecuali pada hari Jumat.” (HR. Muslim).

Workplace Discrimination….

What is workplace discrimination, and what constitutes discrimination against employees or job applicants? Employment discrimination happens when an employee or job candidate is treated unfavorably because of age, disability, genetic information, national origin, pregnancy, race or skin color, religion, or sex.

Often, women are the subject of gender based discrimination in the workplace. One way of illustrating this is to look at the gender pay gap. Equal pay for the same work is a human right, but time and again women are denied access to a fair and equal wage.

Recent figures show that women currently earn roughly 77% of what men earn for the same work. This leads to a lifetime of financial disparity for women, prevents them from fully exercising independence, and means an increased risk of poverty in later life.

Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities, Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin said, the innovation development of the document or guide is also in line with the focus of the Ministry of Plantation Industries and Commodities (KPPK) which aims to increase the synergy of commercialization of kenaf -based products.

Kenaf belongs to the family Malvaceae noted for their economic and horticultural importance. Kenaf seed is a valuable component of kenaf plant. For several years, it has been primarily used as a cordage crop and secondarily as a livestock feed.

The potential for using kenaf seeds as a source of food-based products has not been fully exploited. Consumers are becoming more interested in naturally healthy plant-based food products. Kenaf seed, the future crop with a rich source of essential nutrients and an excellent source of phytocompounds, might serve suitable roles in the production of value-added plant-based foods.

At present kenaf seed and its value-added components have not been effectively utilized for both their nutritional and functional properties as either ingredient or major constituent of food products. This review focuses on the possible food applications of kenaf seed and its value-added components based on their nutritional composition and functional properties available in literature, with the purpose of providing an overview on the possible food applications of this underutilized seed.

The review focuses on a brief introduction on kenaf plant, nutritional function, lipids and proteins composition and food applications of the seed. The review elaborately discusses the seed in terms of; bioactive components, antioxidants enrichment of wheat bread, antimicrobial agents, as edible flour, as edible oil and a source of protein in food system.

The review closes with discussion on other possible food applications of kenaf seed. The need for food scientists and technologists to exploit this natural agricultural product as a value-added food ingredient is of great significance and is emphasized.

In the context of integrity, however, regardless of whether or not they act for the good of society, politicians have integrity, so long as they act consistently with their values. As stated above, ethical integrity is not synonymous with the good.

In the book The Servant of the People, Muel Kaptein describes that integrity should start with politicians knowing what their position entails, because integrity is related to their position.

Integrity also demands knowledge and compliance with both the letter and the spirit of the written and unwritten rules. Integrity is also acting consistently not only with what is generally accepted as moral, what others think, but primarily with what is ethical, what politicians should do based on reasonable arguments.

Furthermore, integrity is not just about why a politician acts in a certain way, but also about who the politician is. Questions about a person’s integrity cast doubt not only on their intentions but also on the source of those intentions, the person’s character. So integrity is about having the right ethical virtues that become visible in a pattern of behavior.

Important virtues of politicians are faithfulness, humility and accountability. Furthermore, they should be authentic and a role model like the Honourable Malaysian Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin…
